 3.5 miles of trails, round-trip, loop trail 

 

 Let's get one thing out of the way first - this awesome 

 hike is in a wetland habitat. Be prepared for adventure! 

 The Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve spans over 

 620 acres, and can be a fun, soggy trek nearly any 

 time of the year. You'll see large, impressive trees in-
-this Congaree floodplain and wildlife including hawks,-
-water fowl, deer, wild hogs and bobcats. Be sure and-
-pack some shoes that you don't mind getting wet! -

Difficulty:  Easy to Moderate, depending on trail conditions.

Distance:  3.5 miles, if you walk the entire loop; options for shorter distances.

Time:  1 - 1.5 hours.

Trail Surface:  Dirt, natural surface, some wet/muddy areas.

Crowds:  Light. Even though this trail is close to major metropolitan areas, it is not well known.

Restrooms:  None.

 

Precautions:  Biting insects can be formidable in the warmer months. Bring insect repellent. This area is wet

nearly year-round. Your shoes might get wet/muddy. There are warnings that alligators could be in the area.
