nearly 20 miles, one-way
The North Fork of the Edisto river is stunning!
This river forms the natural Lexington county line
on its east. Approximately 20 miles between two
rural bridges can may navigable by kayak or canoe
depending on water conditions. Treat this blueway-
-exploration and begin it with a big sense of adventure.-
-It's very likely you'll have to navigate and portage-
-around obstructions, and deal with current!-

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous.
Distance: nearly 20 miles, one-way.
Time: 2 - 4 hours.
Crowds: You are not likely to see anyone else on this blueway.
IMPORTANT - READ THIS: This Blueway is best treated as exploration. You're not always guaranteed
paddle from boat ramp to boat ramp due to obstructions and portages. Bring a big sense of adventure!
Recommendation: show up at one of the boat ramps and paddle as far as you can in both directions.
Put In / Take Out: The two end points for Edisto River access in Lexington County are:
North Access: Bridge over the river at N. Edisto Road/Huckleberry Finn Road. Use GPS coordinates:
33.783056, -81.445667 or 33°46'59.0"N 81°26'44.4"W. Note: Access is on southeast side of bridge.
This access has potential to be overgrown in warmer months. It's about a 200-ft. carry from parking
South Access: This is the better access point. Bridge over the river on Whetstone Road. Use GPS coordinates: 33.651528, -81.185417 or 33°39'05.5"N 81°11'07.5"W. Note: Access is on southeast side of bridge.
Possible Additional Access (depending on water levels and obstructions): HWY-302 Bridge over the Edisto at
Access is on northeast side of bridge; could be overgrown in warmer months.

Fees/Permits: None.
Current: Yes! There is always a current flowing down river, southeast. The flow can be strong after
storms. The nearest Edisto River water gauge is in Branchville (Orangeburg County), however, it can be useful.
It is not advised to enter the river if the gage height is more than 6 feet - CLICK HERE.
Precautions: This is a river paddle. Be prepared for moving water and/or strong currents! Use common
sense. If you see fast moving water, stay out of the river.
