 # 1 - Bike the Pelion Rail Trail-

 Rated: Easy 

 1.5 miles, round-trip 

 

 The Pelion Rail Trail is a hidden gem of the Midlands! 

 You won't find a more peaceful, easy-going, multi- 

 use path in the area. This trail cuts across the town 

 on an old rail bed and is beautifully landscaped with 

 gentle curves, resting benches, a playground, picnic-
-tables and veterans memorial. There are also public-
-restrooms (near the playground). This bike ride is-
-appropriate for all ages and skill levels.-

Difficulty:  Easy.

Distance:  1.5 miles, round-trip, for the entire rail trail.

Time:  10 - 15 minutes to ride the entire trail, round-trip. Ride it several times for more fun!

Trail SurfaceWide, asphalt footpath.

Bike Type:  Hybrid, "beach" cruiser, kid's bike, road bike, just about any bike type will work on this

smooth, asphalt trail. 

Crowds:  It's likely to be very quiet; you may see one or two others on the rail trail. More people on

the weekends.

Trailhead & Parking:  You can access the rail trail from just about any place along it, however, here

are three good places to park:

Railroad Avenue & Pelion Road - GPS: 33.769139, -81.240778 or 33°46'08.9"N 81°14'26.8"W.

Playground area - Railroad Avenue & Oak Street, GPS: 33.763806, -81.245056 or

33°45'49.7"N 81°14'42.2"W.

Lydia Avenue & Railroad Avenue - GPS: 33.759333, -81.248111 or 33°45'33.6"N 81°14'53.2"W.

Fees/Permits:  None.

Restrooms:  Yes, next to the playground.

 

Precautions:  The trail crosses over Main Street; be careful when crossing here.
