The Saluda Rapids paddle is an exciting, advanced-
level adventure. You will experience Class 1-4 rapids,
rocks, drops, fast moving water and other obstacles
along the way. There are a couple places to begin and
end. IMPORTANT: for safety, it's highly advised that-
-you do not paddle this alone and paddle with an-
-experienced whitewater paddler(s). The current and-
-rapids can be dangerous at all water levels!-

Difficulty: Strenuous, technical whitewater paddling! Class 1 - 4 rapids.
Distance: 4 - 10 miles, one-way; requires staging two vehicles.
Time: 2 - 4 hours.
Crowds: Light to moderate, can be busy on nice weekends.
Put In / Take Out: If you want to launch from Lexington County, use the Gardendale Canoe Access, at the

Current: Yes! There is always a current flowing down river, southeast. The flow can be strong after
storms or when there are water releases from Lake Murray. It is not advised to enter the river if the
cubic feet per second (CFS) is above 2,600. To find the water release, CLICK HERE.
Precautions: This is a whitewater river paddle. Be prepared for anything - rocks, big rapids, fast moving water, obstacles, flood conditions, etc. This should only be attempted by tenured, advanced paddlers, and always bring someone along who is experienced. Have an emergency plan. HELMETS and PFD's are required!
